As we head towards the end of the Spring 2025 semester, here are a few honors courses that were offered from student’s perspective:
The 14th Century Crisis with Professor Katie and Dr. Moss blends insightful lectures with lively discussions based on the different aspects of that time period. Students have particularly enjoyed the imaginative group projects, such as designing personal crests. The growth students have experienced in writing and public speaking has been invaluable. If you are interested in learning about the Labyrinth and the spiritual impact it had on the 14th Century Crisis or just want to learn more about the crisis in general, this class is highly recommended!

The Art and Science of Brewing with Dr. Moss offers a unique blend of lectures, group assignments, and hands-on lab work where students brew and bottle their own beers. Despite its challenges, such as navigating the brewing process and understanding the chemistry behind it, students find the practical learning experience immensely engaging and educational. From creating their own beer recipes to participating in brewery competitions, this course fosters a deep understanding of brewing while allowing for personal growth and a newfound appreciation for the craft. With enthusiastic recommendations from students who have taken the course, prospective students can anticipate a challenging yet rewarding journey into the world of brewing with Dr. Moss.

The Comics, Fandom, and Cosplay seminar with Dr. Scott offers a blend of lectures, discussions, and exciting opportunities like attending Pensacon for research. Students are diving into many different topics such as gender in cosplay through articles, analyzing how Pensacon effectively does its marketing, and identifying whether fan fiction has had an impact on those who cosplayed as a character during Pensacon. While this class might not suit everyone, for those passionate about comics and fandom culture, it's an enriching experience tailor-made "for the nerds."
